Western Australia FIT subsidy rate will be halved

May 27, 2011

Less than a week ago, New South Wales announced that after the subsidy rate have halted, Western Australia government has cut subsidy in the new project submission and also will set a limit for PV installation capacity. Currently new PV facilities subsidy will be reduced by half, which cut from 0.40 Australian dollars/kWh in last July to 0.20 Australian dollars/kWh. Follows from the subsidy reduction, Western Australia will sent a limit of 150 MW which means PV project will be end and won’t have any new project application any more. After the news releasing, it is expected that the new round upsurge of PV system installation would emerge while the total installation has already reached 70MW. Nowadays, since only 6 weeks left to enjoy the current favour in subsidy rate, the western residents who want to install solar panels would be into action immediately.
