

Italy will say goodbye to nuclear energy

According to the report from Groupe Radio France Internationale, Italian Prime Ministers Berlusconi was massacred in a two-day popular referendum from July 12th to July 13th. According to the result of the popular referendum, more than 90% to 95% Italians voted against the item about resuming nuclear energy, water privatization and Berlusconi’s immunity from trial. One result of popular referendum is that Italy announced to have a farewell of nuclear energy.
It is the third country in Europe who announced to suspend the nuclear electric power generation after Japan’s Fukushima disaster. Before that Germany has announced to close down all the nuclear reactors before 2022. Then Switzerland has announced several days ago that they would phase out nuclear power before 2034.
Facing the results of the referendum, the report pointed out, Italian party out of power thought it is the beginning of the end of Berlusconi era.
