

DECC:Britain is about to introduce a new scheme for subsidy rate

Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) makes the PV industry’s future in tatter. After several weeks’ waiting, British government announced that they planed to carry out the reform of on-grid power tariff continually which means that the subsidy for large-scale PV facilities will be cut to 8.5p/kw.
British government has been discussing the new subsidy bill since March 18th, reduced subsidy rate of so-called large-scale PV facilities in order to protect the funds resources of small-scale PV project and some relevant technical support.
Greg Barker, the minster of DECC, said “I am full of confidence that green energy would enter every family, community and small business and the subsidy rate is a essential part to establish a more decentralized energy economy.
The new subsidy rate will be put into practice in August first 2011 applied to all new market participants.
Presently the change of subsidy rate will be approved by parliament and national aid. Project below 50KW PV was unaffected this time.
